Abilify® 1 mg/ml Oral Solution

Active Ingredient

Each 1 ml of oral solution contains 1 mg of aripiprazole.

Pharmaceutical Form

Oral solution (150 ml bottle + dosing cup and pipette).

Indications

• Treatment and maintenance of schizophrenia in adults and adolescents (13–17 years)
• Treatment and maintenance of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with Bipolar I Disorder in adults
• Adjunctive treatment in major depressive disorder resistant to antidepressants
• Treatment of irritability associated with autistic disorder in children and adolescents (6–17 years)

Posology and Method of Administration

Adults

Adolescents (13–17 years)

• Schizophrenia: Start at 2 mg/day (Day 1–2), then 5 mg/day (Day 3–4), target 10 mg/day; titrate in 5 mg increments, max 30 mg/day.

Children (6–17 years) – Irritability in Autism

• Start at 2 mg/day, gradually increase to 5, 10, and if needed 15 mg/day.
• Target dose: 5–10 mg/day, max 15 mg/day.

Method of administration: Administer orally in a single daily dose, with or without food.

Special Populations

Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with hepatic or renal impairment. Regular monitoring is advised.

Clinical Information

• Effective dose range for schizophrenia and bipolar mania in adults: 10–30 mg/day.
• For antidepressant augmentation: 5–15 mg/day effective in resistant depression.

Warnings and Precautions

• Dose titrations should occur at ≥ 1-week intervals for tolerability.
• Dose adjustments should not be made within less than 24 hours.
• In mania prevention, maintain dose stability; tapering should be done carefully.
